Dr Alexa Curtis

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

DClinPsych, MNZPsS, MEMDRNZ

Alexa (she/her) is an experienced clinician supporting individuals and groups, including offering ADHD diagnostic assessment, professional supervision, and brief intervention. Alexa has special interests in neurodivergence, mental health, trauma, and forensic psychology.

Alexa offers many years of experience in mental health and wellbeing. She has expertise in a range of evidence-based psychological treatment approaches, such as CBT, EMDR, and solution-focused therapy. Alexa also conducted research with Massey University into non-verbal indicators of emotion, exploring how training and experience can enhance the recognition of emotional expression.

 

Alexa has worked for Department of Corrections, ACC, and with the Royal Commission of Inquiry into abuse in state care, providing wellbeing support to survivors during investigations.

 

Alexa's style is warm, authentic, and compassionate. She takes a strengths-based and holistic approach to her work, and is sensitive to the effects of trauma.

When she's not working, Alexa loves spending time with her two grandchildren, dogs and cats. She is also passionate about travelling and has an interest in yoga. Alexa is based in Levin, Horowhenua.
