Lived Experience Consultant and Counsellor

Romy (she/her) is our lived experience consultant as well as a mental health and addictions counsellor. Romy provides expert support for workplace peer-led wellbeing programmes, as well having specialist skills in the areas of professional supervision, youth, LGBTQI+ employees, and supporting recovery from addiction.
Romy has featured in campaigns led by the World Health Organisation and the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand. She has also led national workforce development programmes in the mental health and addictions sector and held strategic advisory roles with the Ministry of Health, Higher Ground (one of New Zealand’s leading drug rehab programmes), Te Pou, and the Ethnic Advisory Group Asian Family Services (AFS). This year, Romy was selected to represent Aotearoa at the Global Leadership Exchange for international mental health leadership.
Romy’s approach is collaborative and uplifting. She is passionate about working with organisations and individual employees to identify and overcome obstacles, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills. Romy looks to combine evidence-based practices with a modern and relatable approach.
Outside of her mahi (work) Romy is a powerlifting athlete, she’s even certified as a personal trainer and powerlifting coach! Romy is based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
