Theresa Martinovich (she/her) is a highly-regarded and qualified counsellor providing supervision to professionals in challenging roles, as well as counselling for individuals and couples. Theresa is also an experienced facilitator, with a particular interest in facilitating mindfulness programmes for employees.


Drawing from 30 years of experience, Theresa is skilled in supporting people to navigate high-pressure roles or transitions. Theresa has also worked with individuals exposed to traumatic events, individuals going through court processes such as Family Court, and those struggling with addiction, anxiety or depression.

Theresa's approach is warm, non-judgemental, and pragmatic. She holds a first class Masters degree in Counselling, as well as specialist postgraduate qualifications in professional supervision, health science, and working with addiction. Theresa draws from significant experience across a number of evidence based and complimentary therapies to provide the right fit for those she works with.

 

Theresa is an accredited facilitator of the internationally recognised MIEA mindfulness training programme (previously known in Aotearoa as the Koru Programme). She also has a special interest in work within tertiary education environments, and with anger management interventions including experience with the Duluth Model.

Originally from Ruawai in Northland, whānau are integral to Theresa's life, with five adult children and three grandchildren including identical twins. Theresa loves the sea and all it encompasses, walking the beach every day and enjoying boating, fishing and swimming. Theresa is currently based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.
