Zahra Howell
Counselling Psychologist

Zahra (she/her) is a registered counselling psychologist and one of our expert training facilitators. Zahra offers significant experience working with employees from diverse cultural and language backgrounds, as well as in the areas of trauma, stress and burnout.
Zahra brings a background working in healthcare organisations and educational establishments, as well as with Refugees as Survivors New Zealand. Her research involvement includes conference presentations, being published in The Family Journal and Contemporary Psychology, and current involvement in a programme investigating the effectiveness of a national online mental health tool.
Zahra facilitates engaging workshops and group sessions on topics such as self-care, managing difficult emotions, culturally sensitive communication, mindfulness, and responses to trauma. She communicates with empathy and clarity, taking evidence-based practice and delivering this in a digestible, practical way.
Outside of her mahi (work), Zahra likes reading, travelling, discovering new food, and painting. In addition to English, Zahra is fluent in Farsi/Persian. She is based in central Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
